Thrifty Finds for Friday!

Today I stopped in the Salvation Army.    It was so crowded!!   Thrifting is really getting out there.  They were having 50% off all clothes.   I didn't find anything I wanted even at 50% in clothes.   This particular one, I seem to have a lot of luck with shoes.  It's funny how, some stores I have better luck with different items.   Anyway, I found this pair of brand new Sofft sandals, red patent leather, never been worn.  these sandals retail for about 50.00 so they were a great deal for 7.99!  They are so comfortable.

Then, I found these Clark's for my mom.   These retail for around 120.00 and these are in great shape, practically new.  They look like they've been worn maybe 2-3 times only.   Nothing a little Lysol and Rubbing Alcohol won't fix.  They don't have toe marks or heel marks or anything on the pads.   Nice.  I'm always on the look out for particular brands for her as she has been having problems with her feet and the doctor said no more cheap shoes!  These cost me 6.99.

Then I went by one of my favorite stores, the Lutheran High School Thrift Store.   I found this great grey blazer, it is lightweight and very comfortable.  .50 cents.

Then I found another nice shirt for my 13 year old, a nice long sleeved t-shirt by Billabong, one of his favorite brands, 2.00.  We're not ready for long sleeves yet but we'll get there!

This cute little blue shirt is by Tony Hawk (skatewear) and I got it for my little nephew Max.  1.00.
I was lucky to find this brand new maternity top for my niece for .25 cents!  It's by Motherhood which is not inexpensive : )

Not pictured because I already loaded them into my car player, I got four cds for .25 cents each.   Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Pointer Sisters, Bob Seger and Travis Tritt.  All four were unscratched and in their original plastics!  Yay!

Well that's it for now, there is church rummage sale nearby that starts today at 4:00pm, I will probably swing by and check that out after I pick up my 13 year old from school.   You know he's going to love that!  : |  And that will be it for the weekend!   We are going to the Rodeo and Western Days tomorrow with friends.  Happy Thrifting and Happy Weekend to all!

This cute little guy is Max, my nephew.   I usually have my eye out for clothes for him when I am out thrifting.   Little kids grow overnight so in my opinion thrifting is a great way to go.
I hit a yard sale on Sunday and got these for him for 2.50 for all of it, 2 pants, 4 shirts and some shorts.

I stopped in at the Salvation Army earlier in the week and they were having a 1/2 off color tag sale.  I really do love polka dots and I have been finding a lot of them.  This dress is a satiny fabric with pleats in the front.  I love it!  It is a white background with brown dots.  I got this dress for 4.00.

Then at the same time I found this polka dot dress.  It is a sundress with full skirt and the background is brown with white multi size polka dots.   It is perfect for the very warm weather we are still having.  I really love this one too.   I got this one for 4.00 also and found the exact dress online in blue for 49.00!(no longer available)
I went to a church rummage sale behind my house on Friday morning and found these for my niece.  The velveteen hoodie is like new and is Juicy Couture.   1.00 dollar.   The shorts are high waisted in plaid, really cute and are Forever 21.  1.00 dollar    The pants are black with sparkly silver glitter in them.  They will look so cute on her : )  They were 1.00 dollar too.  Everything looked new!

I found another Quiksilver shirt for my son, one of his favorite brands.    $ 1.00 at the Salvation Army.  This was from today, I just ran in for a minute because it was 1.00 yellow tag day.

I got this night shirt for me, Christmas is coming and I LOVE Knott's Berry Farm.   We have annual passes every year and I worked there for 5 years a while back.   Growing up we went there pretty often on Sundays after church.   They had a section that was free admission back then with a steamboat and a train and a merry-go round.   It's brand new and still has the Knott's tag on it but the price is blacked out. It was at least 19.99 at Knott's but I paid......1.00!

I found this shirt at the rummage sale on Friday too, a cute shirt for Halloween. 1.00 dollar.  It still has the Target tags on it,  8.00 dollars.
That's my thrifting for this past weekend, as I said before if you read it,  Saturday was way too hot!!  No fun at all.  The temperature hit a high of 101 and I am less than 5 miles from the beach.  Crazy weather.  Today has been in the high 80's but that is definitely relieve.   Going outside was not unbearable.  Well, until next time!

September 101

It's September and the 101 is the  temperature outside right now in So. California!   Our weather is usually pretty perfect but it has been hot and very humid.   Yuck.    I love my yard sales but I went out for a minute today just down the street to a yard sale and a church rummage sale and quickly went back home empty handed!  At the yard sale the clothes were in a pile in direct sun and I just couldn't handle it.  I need to go through everything to see if there are any hidden treasures but it was way too hot.   Same with rummage sale, a lot of clothes but the room was completely stuffy and hot too.   Fortunately I hit this one yesterday at 8:30 am before it had a chance to get hot and did find a few things for mom and my niece and me.  I am sitting on my bed with the a/c pointed at my body and here I will stay!   I'm to lazy to post those pics right now so I will later.

Some back-to-school thrifting

Yesterday I went to a couple of my favorite thrift stores and found a few things for my 13 year old, my 3 year old nephew and for me.   I found a cute little pair of pajamas by Carters for my nephew and a pair of baby CROCS.   They are really cute small, I don't think they are too cute when they get really big sizes!  Those 2 items cost me a whopping $ 4.00.   Thrifting is good for everyone but babies and kids grow so fast it really makes sense.    Aren't these just the cutest?  And look  my nail polish matches : )

Next up for my 13 year old.  He just started Junior High.   He liked his first day yesterday.   We went school shopping for him and picked up a couple pairs of pants and about 6 or 7 new shirts and a new pair of shoes to start off the year.   I always thrift for him too after that, the newness wears off after a few washes and you can't tell what was thrifted and what was new after that!    Boys clothes can be pricey too, my son like the skateboard/surfwear brands Volcom, Billabong, Hurley, Vans, etc.   I can find them pretty regularly at the thrift stores or yard sales.   Look at these nice shirts for 1.00 each.

                                                                        Billabong

                                                             Quiksilver

This  is about 80.00 worth of shirts for 3 dollars.

I got this quiksilver hoodie for 1 dollar at a yard sale, I got my older son the exact same hoodie a year ago or so in a different color at the Quiksilver store for 68.00!    Was excited to find this.

For me I found a pair of sandals for 3.00.   These are the brand ECCO.  I didn't know too much about them before but just recently I went with my mom to the Walking Company store, her podiatrist recommended better shoes for some problems she has been having with her feet.   She purchased a nice pair of Danskos on sale for 85.00.    And a pair of TAOS brand shoes for 100.00.    The ECCO brand of sandals sells for 110.00 so when I saw these for 3.00 and in my size I grabbed them.   The look a lot cuter on and they really are super comfortable and definitely a well made shoe.

Last but definitely not least, I went to an estate sale a few weekends ago and grabbed this as soon as I saw it for 10.00!   The lady said she remembered her father carrying it back in the 70's.    I don't know if it is authentic Louis Vuitton  or not but it is really beautiful and looks like an antique briefcase.   I called the Louis Vuitton store in the mall to see if they would authenticate and the saleswoman said they don't do that, I would have to find someone who does that.  But she did say for 10.00 dollars even if it isn't, it is still an antique case and pretty cool.   I was thinking I could give it to my son to use for college, he likes things like this.   We'll see.     Anyway that is all for now but I expect to hit an Estate sale Friday before my busy weekend.

Pretty in Pink Thrifty Haul!

I was at the Salvation Army a couple of weeks ago and found this dress!  I LOVE polka dots and I like pink and black.  I really like the bow and sash and the twirly skirt.   I paid full S.A. price for this, no sale, but I really liked this dress and and couldn't leave without it!   6.99

I really liked this one too and paid 7.99 for it.   That's a lot for me at a thrift store but still way less than retail.  They are both really my style of dress, kind of a wrap style dress, or faux wrap.  I think this style hides a few extra inches around the middle pretty nicely.

I saw this 100% Geniune Leather jacket, brand new and had to have it.   I paid 5.00 for it!!! Don't you just love the ruffle detailing around the collar?  I do!!  (That is my puppy Lincoln at the top of the picture.  He didn't want to move.  Isn't he pretty?  He is a chow/border collie mix and he is a sweetheart. He isn't leaving my side today as I was gone for a week and he missed me so much.  Now he's afraid to let me out of his sight : )

I got this pink/rose colored blazer for 3.00 dollars, it's Banana Republic and I don't think it's ever been worn either, no tags.    Perfect for fall!
I love this blouse by BASS, 2.00.   It is a very light weight cotton and so comfortable with such a pretty pattern.

I got these low heeled Worthington's for 4.00 at Lutheran High School thrift store, one of my favorite stores!  I'm thinking I can wear them with the brown polka dotted dress.

And these cute beaded sandals for 4.00 also.    I think a very successful day thrifting!!

Lutheran High Thrift Store Trip

Yesterday I made a stop at this particular store I hadn't been to in a while and I really lucked out!  I actually found a few things but I'm just going to post this for now real quick because I was pretty thrilled about it.  I picked up this pair of BORN sandals to go with my newly thrifted white purse!  I've been wanting white sandals but just haven't found any I really wanted even at the retail store.   The white leather sandals are perfect!  I love the big leather flowers, so perfect and Born is a well made shoe and super comfortable.  These were in like new condition, I just wiped them down with alcohol and sprayed a little Lysol and they are perfect!  Wearing them today.   Will post my other items later.  (oh, these sandals were 4.00  : )

Thrifting finds for the Mr.!

This morning before going to work a little in our community garden parcel, my mom and I stopped by the Salvation Army.  She was looking for a little table to go in her kitchen.  I have been kind looking for a pair of black skinny jeans but haven't been looking too hard.   I didn't find them today but I did see a nice J.Crew sweater I liked but it wasn't the tag color on sale.   Clear tags were 50%.  It is kind of a fun challenge for me to find something that is for sale that I want.  Of course if I reeallllyy wanted something I would get it, the Salvation Army price is great considering most retail prices.  But I didn't love the sweater so I passed.    I decided to go over and look in the men's button down shirt section.  My Mister is not too concerned with his clothes and I usually wind up shopping for him.   He always wears Levi 501's so that is easy.  He has one pair of dress slacks for that special occasion.   But he does go through the button down shirts and will usually wear one until it is holey or faded.   I shop different places for him-Macy's, Express, T.J Maxx, etc. Once I picked up a few of his favorite shirts practically new at the thrift shop and  he was on board after that!   Today I was lucky and found 4, 3 were the 50% off tag!    One shirt did not have the sale color tag on it but it was such a nice shirt in brand new condition and I know what a shirt like it goes for so I got it too.   It was from Express, the MX1, and they sell retail for about 60.00 so 12.99 was a steal.   I picked up a brown one with interesting blue diamond shapes by Sisley(United Colors of Benetton sells this brand) an Arrow fitted stretch shirt and a Nice Billabong plaid.  I think he's going to like all of them : )

Express MX1 dress shirt 59.50   My Price 12.99 !!!

Billabong button down shirt retail about 45.00 50.00   My Price 3.00!!

Arrow fitted, stretch dress shirt  retail around 40.00     My Price  2.50!!

Sisley button down shirt around 35.00 40.00 retail   My Price 3.00!!!
