Friday Thriftted outfit of the day.........

So today I am going to step out of my comfort zone a little and do a mostly thrifted outfit of the day.  I enjoy looking at everyone else's and  so I will give it a try.   I feel a little self conscious about it for some reason so bear with me : )

Today was 1/2 sale day at my Salvation Army. Clothes, shoes and 30% of bric-a-brac. First let me say, this S.A. Has never had the Red tag for higher end clothing with the higher end price. Today it did! A new thing I guess. But there were so many items with the red tags and crazy prices! It's going to be harder to find that treasure for a great price as someone is going through and pricing high. I once got a beautiful Gap coat at this same location for 1.00 on a sale day. Today I saw a gap cost used priced at 25.99!! Not too bad with the 1/2 off but still.....you thrifters know what I mean. Well I took a good look anyway and came away with a few things anyway.

This chocolate brown Michael for MK velour track suit for 39.99 1/2 off, 19.99 is not a bad price for both pieces and doesn't look like its been worn.

Nice!!!  We have a few more chilly days left and more rain I'm sure.  

Then I found a really cute pair of shortie pajamas for those warmer nights and they still had the original tags on them.   They retail for about 35.00 on QVC and at Nordstroms.  1/2 price and I got them for 3.00dollars.  I love pajamas and night gowns.  I am always on the look out for them.    

The last item I found was a pair of satiny pajama pants to go with a pajama top of the same fabric in black.  I knew I'd eventually find a pair of pants to go with it.  These are great in a grey with black leopard spots for 2.50.    I think I did pretty well today.  

Feeling Thrifty on Thursday!

I found some really great things today!!  The prize was this  beautiful pair of gold and rhinestone sandals by Franco Sarto with lots of bling for 5.00! Unfortunately they are a size too small for me but fortunately for my sis they are just her size so I got them for her. She needs some cheering up, she just lost her best buddy Monty, her precious English Bulldog. He died last week and she is pretty sad. He was a sweetheart.  

I actually found these exact sandals on EBAY for 25.00 plus shipping, used, so this was a great deal and mine were new.  My sis love them and they fit her perfectly.  She is picking up her boy's ashes today and a memorial plaque and then she and her husband are going to go have lunch at the dog beach that they took their buddy to so often : )

A new store!

A new thrift store opened up nearby, it's called Working Wardrobe and if you're in the OC area it is on the corner of Placentia and 19th. It is very neat and clean, more like a resale shop but the sign says thrift store. Donations, no buying of clothes. The clothing is more brand names and the prices are higher. An example, a pretty Ann Taylor sweater for 14.99. A good price for the item but not thrift prices. They were having a sale, 2.99 for all pants and skirts so I did find a few things I wanted.

I got this really pretty 100% wool skirt from Jones New York.  It is greens and pink.

These super soft and pretty pull on pants from Nieman Marcus are 100% cashmere!   I think they will be so comfortable to wear around and they are extra long : )  I'm extra tall!

And these great jeans, GAP 1969 in great shape.  Can always use another great pair of jeans!

I bought a piece of jewelry on ebay for the first time, I got it for 11.00 and free shipping for a big, red statement necklace.   It is really pretty and the quality looks really good.

I did a little thrifting during the Christmas season that I haven't had a chance to post, I picked up this beautiful handbag by Michael Kors.   It was in perfect condition, soft, supple leather with no scratches and on the inside the interior is spotless like it would be directly from the store. Amazing find !  It was at the Goodwill and was 14.99.   Most of the time the Goodwill seems overpriced, much more so than the Salvation Army but I still stop in every so often for a look around and I was so glad I did this day!

                              It matchs perfectly with my recently purchased Pendleton wallet.  Lucky!

This is Middle Son, he is out thrifting with me and being silly, he put on this grass skirt and danced around amusing himself and everyone else : )

I found these beautiful Cole Haan Nike Air patent leather pumps that are new too.   They were priced at 8.00 but all the shoes where half off at the Lutheran High Thrift so I got these for 4.00!    Cole Haan pumps can retail from around 120.00 to 245.00 dollars for a pair of pumps! 

Although I haven't had a chance to thrift since the holidays I did drive by one of my favorite Salvation Army stores and the parking lot was very crowded with people dropping off all kinds of goodies!  It was piled up high outside.   I can't wait to have a chance to get out there and shop!   I have a few bags to drop of myself, mostly clothes and toys my 13 year old has outgrown.

Christmas shopping

 I LOVE this little guy!!  Unfortunately no one else likes him : (  The mister and my son's think he's creepy!!   I used to play with trolls when I was little so I just think he's the cutest.  I got him for 1.50 and I'm pretty sure he was brand new, never used.  What do you think?

There is is great vintage shop near me, called Swellegant, it is a bit pricey but fun to browse around in.   When I drove by and saw these Christmas sweaters I had to get out and get some pictures.  The pictures aren't the greatest because of the reflection but you can see them.  

I know some might think these fall into the ugly Christmas sweater category but I love these woven cardigans, I think they are so cute!!!!   I would wear one with black skinny jeans and boots, cute, no?

 These actually run about 60 bucks so they are not inexpensive here.   I will be on the lookout for one at the thrifts. : )   So far I've found plenty of ugly Christmas sweat shirts but that's not what I want.

 I think this one is my favorite!!

Okay, here is another question......if you're here reading then I already know you probably love to thrift shop/yard sale/estate sale.   But what about for Christmas gifts??   Well, this year I did a combination of both.  I've been looking around for months and when I found something I thought someone would like that was brand new, with or without tags I would get it.   So with those items and some new store bought things, I did pretty well with all my shopping and didn't spend a ton.  I got some nice things too!   Like the dress for my little niece, it is just adorable, kind of a mod 70's style dress from baby Gap for 1.00 on half price day.  It is BRAND new.   I have a lot of little girl nieces (4) and only one nephew.  That day they had a ton of brand new toddler clothes so I really lucked out.   I don't have pictures of anything because I just didn't have time, I had to wrap and be done with it, we are having our family get together this evening.   About 4 years ago the whole family decided for fun that the only gifts we could give had to either be handmade or thrifted.   That was a lot of fun, trying to find the perfect give for everyone and a challenge.  What about you and thrifted gifts?  Do you give them?  Do you mind getting them??
